Amazon announced yesterday that if you plan to run deals during Prime Week, you must submit them by April 28th, 2023 for Amazon US or May 12th, 2023 for Amazon CA.

Let’s look at how Prime Day has scaled since its inception in 2015.

  • In 2015, Amazon Prime Day was held on July 15th, generating an estimated $900 million in sales.
  • In 2016, Amazon Prime Day was held on July 12th, generating an estimated $1.5 billion in sales.
  • In 2017, Amazon Prime Day was held on July 11th, generating an estimated $2.4 billion in sales.
  • In 2018, Amazon Prime Day was held on July 16th and 17th, generating an estimated $4.2 billion in sales.
  • In 2019, Amazon Prime Day was held on July 15th and 16th, generating an estimated $7.16 billion in sales.
  • In 2020, Amazon Prime Day was held on October 13th and 14th due to the COVID-19 pandemic, generating an estimated $10.4 billion in sales.
  • In 2021, Prime Day sales reached $11.19 billion, representing a 7.7% increase over Amazon’s 2020 event.
  • During Prime Day 2022, the two-day event generated nearly $12 billion, a significant increase from 2021’s $11 billion. Last year’s event brought in over $1.7 billion in savings for Prime members and caused online sales to grow by 141%
