After a nearly year-long hiatus, Jon Somerville returned to Hinge Commerce in October 2024, just in time to help steer the company into its next growth phase. Originally joining in July 2017 with no prior eCommerce experience, Jon’s journey has been marked by learning, adaptability, and a deep-rooted belief in Hinge Commerce’s mission. Now, he’s back to build new sales opportunities and deepen our partnerships, all while bringing the same energy that made him an integral part of Hinge Commerce from the start.
What brought you back to Hinge Commerce?
The people. Honestly. Hinge has always been a place where relationships matter. I’ve built friendships here that have lasted beyond just work. And there’s something special about the scrappy way we operate. We get things done without the BS. That’s rare.
What’s your favorite thing about Hinge Commerce?
The longevity of the team. There’s a lot of trust that’s been built over the years, and we’ve learned so much together. It’s fulfilling to grow with a group that’s all-in.
Proudest Hinge Commerce Moment?
Partnering with School Specialty. It was a long, complex process, but we really listened to what they needed and created new offerings around that. The result? A long-term deal that speaks to our ability to evolve and deliver real value.
Where do you see eCommerce heading next year?
It’s going to be even more AI-driven. We’re seeing SEO evolve to support AI search, helping people find products faster and more intuitively. If you’re not optimizing for that, you’re already behind.
