eCommerce up but eBay down

Sales in eCommerce continue to grow every day, and Amazon still dominates with just over 40% market share in the US for 2021. Following Amazon is Walmart at 7.1% and eBay, dropping down to 4.3%.  It’s important to note while eBay is down in market share, they are still growing in revenue (up 2.8% over 2020).

eBay Marketplace

Overall, US e-Commerce grew 14% in 2021 to $870 billion.  To add to the good news for sellers, 45% reported increased profits even with supply chain issues in 2021.

The top 10 US retail e-Commerce companies all showed double-digit increases in sales, except for eBay.  Amazon, Walmart, Target, Kroger, and Costco out-paced the overall e-Commerce growth, gaining more market share.

Part of Amazon’s growth last year came from an average of over 3,500 new sellers signing up daily.  Statistics also show that sellers with experience in eCommerce, tend to sell more!
