COVID-19: Impact on FBA and Vendor Central Orders

This shares the impact of COVID-19 on FBA as well as Amazon Vendor orders.

For products that are Fulfill By Amazon (FBA): Amazon has just announced that they are temporarily prioritizing products coming into their fulfillment centers.  As the COVID-19 crisis has escalated, there has been an increase in online shopping on Amazon. As a result, some products, such as household staples and medical supplies, are out-of-stock. With this in mind, Amazon is temporarily prioritizing household staples, medical supplies, and other high-demand products coming into their fulfillment centers so that they can more quickly receive, restock, and deliver these products to customers.

The specific list of categories that are being prioritized by Amazon includes: baby care, health and household care, personal care, grocery, industrial and scientific, and pet supplies. All other products may not have their fulfillment requests approved.

Vendor Central Orders: For Vendors, Amazon has temporarily paused ordering for products that are not household staples, medical supplies, or other high demand products. Amazon has also extended the shipment/delivery windows for some existing purchase orders to give brands more time to fulfill the order. Please ship your products toward the end of the extended window.

All of this will be in effect today through April 5, 2020. Amazon will let us know once they resume regular operations.

Amazon’s note says:  “We understand this is a change to your business, and we did not take this decision lightly. We are working around the clock to increase capacity and yesterday announced that we are opening 100,000 new full- and part-time positions in our fulfillment centers across the US. We appreciate your understanding as we prioritize the above products for our customers.”
